Rare 1968 Footage Shows Fierce Gunfire Exchange as Biafran Forces Capture Ikot-Ekpene

In September 1968, intense gunfire erupted as Biafran forces clashed with Nigerian soldiers in Ikot-Ekpene, a key location during the Nigerian Civil War. A video recording from the time captures the heavy exchange of bullets between the two armies during this fierce battle.

After several days of combat, Biafran troops successfully gained control of Ikot-Ekpene, which is now part of present-day Akwa Ibom State. The footage highlights a pivotal moment in the conflict, as the town’s capture had significant implications for both sides.
