Eleje hails from Afikpo in Ebonyi State. She holds a degree in Psychology from the University of Jos in Plateau State. Furthering her education, she earned the Hubert H. Humphrey Fellowship in Banking and Management from Boston University in Massachusetts, USA. Additionally, she is a Certified Information System Auditor (CISA), showcasing her expertise in financial auditing and systems management.

Priscilla Eleje was appointed as the substantive Director of Currency Operations at the CBN in August 2018, after initially serving in an acting capacity. Her tenure became even more historic when the first set of naira notes bearing her signature—starting with the 1,000 Naira note—entered circulation in 2019.
