Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkBlackMan, an activist and social media personality, has explained why he will not honour the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) invitation regarding allegations of corruption against the agency’s officials.
Previously, Igbo History reported that VeryDarkMan released a video in which he played an audio recording allegedly belonging to social media personality Bobrisky. In the recording, Bobrisky claimed he was asked to pay N15 million to have money laundering charges against him dropped.
In response, the EFCC sent a letter inviting both VeryDarkMan and Bobrisky to their Lagos office to assist in investigating the bribery allegations.
However, on Wednesday, VeryDarkMan declined the invitation, stating that he does not reside in Lagos and is uncertain about his safety if he travels there. Instead, he suggested that the EFCC should invite both parties to their Abuja office.
He further criticized the EFCC, questioning why Bobrisky had not been properly prosecuted and jailed.
“Before inviting someone like me, the EFCC should first conduct a thorough investigation into their officers. Once the investigation into Bobrisky’s case is complete, then they can invite me.
“It doesn’t make sense to ask me to come to Lagos when the EFCC headquarters is in Abuja. You should invite Bobrisky to Abuja and continue your investigation there.
“Lastly, I won’t go to Lagos because I don’t have N15 million to pay for anything. I don’t have any powerful connections, and I don’t want to be framed. I don’t trust the EFCC, and I won’t go (to Lagos),” he concluded.
