The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) is preparing to suspend Anambra State Governor, Chukwuma Soludo, for his alleged involvement in anti-party activities, according to the party’s National Chairman, Chief Edozie Njoku.
Njoku, addressing a press conference at the Federal High Court in Abuja, accused Soludo of continuously undermining the Supreme Court-recognized National Working Committee (NWC), hindering efforts to restore peace within APGA. He stated, “They are testing our patience, thinking the governor is bigger than the party. No one is bigger than APGA.”
Njoku criticized Soludo’s participation in the upcoming local government elections in Anambra, scheduled for September 28, amidst internal conflicts in the party. He emphasized that while Soludo might hold a powerful position, he operates within a political system, not as an emperor.
The NWC is set to announce the suspension of several members, including Governor Soludo, on September 26, 2024, for actions deemed detrimental to the party. Njoku further hinted that Soludo might face challenges if he seeks re-nomination as the party’s candidate in future elections.
The party chairman called for a united front, urging interested candidates for the governorship to step forward, while expressing doubt over Soludo’s loyalty and his capacity to lead APGA into the next election cycle.
