In light of the surging petrol prices and the increasing cost of transportation, many Nigerians are finding it difficult to afford daily commutes. Aba residents are no exception, and with the reopening of schools, parents are particularly worried about how to cope with these rising costs.

To alleviate some of these challenges, Hon. Alex Ikwechegh, the Member representing Aba North and Aba South Federal Constituency, has introduced a free transportation scheme for students, traders, and residents. As part of his commitment to support his constituents, the scheme offers complimentary transport services, with all expenses covered by Hon. Ikwechegh.

The initiative, which has already commenced, involves two new coaster buses stationed at the Constituency Office located at 59 Pound Road by Georges, Aba. These buses will facilitate free transportation for any interested commuters.

Speaking on the initiative, Hon. Ikwechegh stated, “I am excited to launch this free transportation scheme, which will provide relief to our students, traders, and all residents of Aba city. I understand the significant economic burden everyone is currently facing, and I am determined to do whatever I can to ease or reduce the impact of these tough economic conditions.”

This gesture highlights Hon. Ikwechegh’s dedication to the welfare of his constituents, despite the current economic challenges. He has encouraged residents to take full advantage of the service.

In addition to the free transportation scheme, the Constituency Office is also housing 16 electricity transformers, provided by Hon. Ikwechegh. These transformers will be distributed to neighborhoods in need, as some areas have been without electricity for years due to a lack of functional transformers.

This comprehensive approach demonstrates Hon. Ikwechegh’s ongoing efforts to improve the quality of life for the people of Aba.
